Gaining access to SHIIP is simple and the Onboarding Team will be there to support you during each step of the process.

5 Steps to Onboard an Organization to SHIIP

Introductory Onboarding Meeting
  • An introduction to SHIIP and a walk through of the demonstration environment to better understand what SHIIP offers and discuss how it can support your organization in delivering quality patient care
Readiness Assessment
  • Identification of health information custodian(s) and legal signatories for the organization
  • Review of technical and privacy requirements for SHIIP access
  • Note: the SHIIP readiness assessment is similar to the Connecting Ontario readiness assessment process
Enrolment of Organization as a SHIIP Participant
  • Sign off of the Participant agreement by the legal signatory
  • Confirm ‘Practice List’ parameters
  • Nomination and training of the Local Registration Authority (LRA) to support user access
  • Declaration of Privacy Officer and review of privacy program model
User Enrolment
  • Completion of user enrolment forms by each individual user, including attestation of privacy training and sign off by LRA
  • Submission of all forms to the SHIIP onboarding specialist for access to SHIIP
Initial Log-In and Ongoing Support
  • Credentials to access SHIIP are provided to each user during a support call
  • Training is provided to ensure all users can access SHIIP and can use it to its full functionality
  • Additional training and quality improvement support is available to support organizations in optimizing their use of SHIIP and integrating the tool into daily practices

To onboard a new individual user on SHIIP

If the organization is already onboarded on SHIIP, to enroll a new user, the user fills out the individual enrollment form and has it approved by organizations LRA. Once it is approved the completed form can be send to support@shiip.ca. As soon as the form is received the SHIIP Onboarding Team will create an account for the new user and schedule a call with the user to complete the account creation process.

Account Management

If an user‘s account is suspended in the SHIIP application, the user needs to fill out the reactivation form and send it to the SHIIP support team for assistance with reactivating the account.

When an organization needs to suspend an user‘s account in the SHIIP application, it must complete the deactivation form and send it to the SHIIP support team for assistance with the account suspension.
